Position Summary
Join our team as a Cardiology Services & Prevention RN, where you’ll play a central role in delivering high-quality cardiovascular care and prevention services. This position blends direct patient care, diagnostics, education, and wellness programming—ideal for a nurse who enjoys both clinical excellence and community impact.
You will support patients across the continuum—from diagnostic testing to lifestyle modification—while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Excellence
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and respond to emergent situations
- Deliver patient and family education focused on disease management and lifestyle modification
- Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans to achieve optimal outcomes
Cardiology & Diagnostic Services
- Perform and interpret 12-lead EKGs and telemetry monitoring
- Conduct cardiac stress testing, stress echocardiograms, and Holter monitoring
- Support services including:
- Anticoagulation management
- Lipid management
- Diabetic education
- Foot care
- Operate point-of-care testing equipment (glucometer, coagulation, lipid testing)
- Maintain clinical competency with cardiology equipment and medications
Prevention & Wellness Programming
- Deliver education on risk reduction, prevention, and chronic disease management
- Monitor patients during exercise and rehabilitation programs
- Participate in community health initiatives and employee wellness programs
- Adjust exercise prescriptions based on patient progress and clinical needs
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant patient records
- Collaborate effectively with providers and interdisciplinary team members
- Recognize and escalate changes in patient condition appropriately
Safety & Compliance
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders and nursing policy
- Follow infection control protocols, standard precautions, and patient safety goals
- Utilize safe patient handling techniques and proper equipment use
Qualifications
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Preferred:
- Experience with arrhythmia interpretation
- Background in cardiology, rehabilitation, or outpatient services
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing and walking; continuous patient interaction
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and assist with patient movement
- Exposure to clinical environments, including bloodborne pathogens and communicable diseases
- Regular use of medical and diagnostic equipment
Schedule
- Typical shifts: 8–12 hours (varied scheduling)
- Occasional overtime as needed
