Process Engineer

Description

 Performs activities related to the design, modification and operation of process equipment for a fleet of ethanol plants.  Reviews the process equipment and operating data and provides guidance to plants leadership to improve operations.  Manages the development of projects from conception through completion and provides process support following execution.

  • Provides oversight of the fleet ethanol operation by reviewing, studying, problem-solving, and trouble-shooting the fleet systems and equipment and provides recommendations.
  • Analyzes and interprets data for opportunities to improve production, efficiencies, yields and operating costs. Generate reports summarizing findings.
  • Develops and monitors KPI for process equipment and provides recommendations for improved operations.
  • Improves the process by recommending changes in operations, controls, equipment, procedures, parameters, operational theory and other related items.
  • Provides onsite support for execution and operation of recommended process changes.
  • Prepares justification, cost estimates and other project documents as required for approval.
  • Provides support for process trials at ethanol plants through development, execution and evaluation of results.
  • Develops technical specifications to procure equipment and services.
  • Provides oversight of installation, startup and performance testing of multiple projects concurrently.
  • Performs design work and supervision for other assigned tasks to ensure they are completed safely, accurately and efficiently.
  • Serves as a technical resource for fleet operations.
  • Supports, leads, and mentors site engineers on plant specific projects.
  • Champions fleet process design through technical design and team building.
  • Completes requirements for compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management Regulations including but not limited to the maintenance documentations such as P&IDs, SOPs, operating limits and equipment specifications.
  • Provides support and expertise in Turnaround  execution.

 

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

 

Qualifications
  •  Bachelor’s degree (or higher level degree) in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • At least two years of related engineering experience required.
  • Process Design experience preferred.
  • Operations support experience preferred.
  • Experience in ethanol production, chemical processing, food processing, oil refining, or power plant preferred.
  • Experience with engineering programs (i.e., CAD, SAP, ASPEN) preferred.
  • Experience using Word and Excel preferred.
