Position Overview:
The Inventory Control Specialist in the Maintenance Shop is responsible for managing and organizing parts, tools, and supplies to support the farm’s maintenance operations. This role ensures accurate inventory tracking, timely ordering of parts, and efficient organization of materials to minimize downtime and keep equipment running smoothly
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of all parts, tools, and supplies in the maintenance shop.
- Implement a minimum inventory level, Maximum inventory level and a reorder point.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and audits to ensure proper stock levels.
- Reconciliation of the inventory will manage for accuracy
- Implement and maintain an organized system for storing and labeling inventory.
Ordering & Receiving:
- Monitor stock levels and order parts as needed to prevent shortages.
- Work with vendors to source parts at the best price and lead time.
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments, verifying accuracy against orders and invoices.
- Process and track purchase orders, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
Shop Organization & Efficiency:
- Organize and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient maintenance shop.
- Establish and enforce proper storage procedures for tools and equipment.
- Assist mechanics in locating and retrieving needed parts efficiently.
Record Keeping & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of part usage, costs, and vendor information.
- Track warranty information and return defective parts as necessary.
- Provide reports on inventory levels, spending, and usage trends.
- Pull receipts for parts and entering into Manager Plus software.
- Invoicing, Statements, and other necessary costing requirements will be entered and submitted to Accounts Payable.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Ability to understand costs, purchases, cost analysis of equipment downtime/parts usage.
- Prior experience in inventory control, maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well with maintenance and management teams.
- Knowledge of feedlot equipment and maintenance parts is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Standing, walking, bending, and climbing ladders as needed.
- Working in a shop environment with exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
