JSMM Farms (Niewohner Entities) is looking for an Irrigation Technician to operate, maintain and repair farm irrigation system components; maintain accurate irrigation records; develop and interpret irrigation plans, specifications and details; communicate effectively with others; provide assistance for crop planting; and participate in the harvesting of crops. Ideal candidate must have basic knowledge of servicing and maintenance of equipment, a driver’s license with a clean driving record, self motivated, and ability to work independently.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all company-owned or leased equipment
  • Operate all equipment safely and accurately
  • In this operation it is important that every employee focus on the priorities of: Cattle Health; Animal Welfare; Employee Safety, and; Overall Productivity.
  • Report to work on time each day and begin the days activities.
  • Adhere to the requirements and guidelines established by the Owners and Manager, and adhere to the policies included in the Employee Handbook.
  • Perform assigned operations and maintenance, ensuring that they are completed accurately, consistently, efficiently, and according to policy.
  • Complete all records and paperwork according to current procedures.
  • Maintain an inventory of all tools and be able to account for their location at all times.
  • Perform equipment maintenance as instructed.
  • Perform maintenance on tractors, loaders, 4-wheelers, spreaders, pick-ups, etc.
  • Perform maintenance on any downed rails, obviously broken water tanks, and other problems in pens.
  • Perform regular maintenance of fences and feeders and keep the facilities neat and orderly.
  • When operating equipment, check oil and fluids, keep the equipment and cab clean, do regular maintenance according to established procedure, and be sure that fuel is filled at the end of the day.
  • Be Alert! Drive and operate all equipment according to established operational and safety procedures.
  • Drive pickup trucks and machinery with basic common sense. Dents, abuse and other carelessness will not be tolerated.
  • Maintain orderly appearance of trucks, facilities, and other areas where you work.
  • Inform mechanic immediately of any problems or safety issues with trucks.
  • Do not make any purchases without the approval of your leader. Return with a signed receipt for all purchases and leave that receipt in the designated location in the office.
  • Interact with others in a manner that promotes a sense of safety, teamwork, camaraderie, and an enjoyable work atmosphere for everyone in the operation.
  • Assist in other areas of the operation as requested by your Foreman or the Manager.
  • Be aware of potential environmental issues and notify your Foreman of any concerns in this area.
  • Keep waste to a minimum and constantly evaluate ways to reduce costs.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience operating equipment such as tractors, loaders, telehandlers, straight trucks, etc. preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of servicing and maintenance of equipment.
  • Driver’s License with a clean driving record is required.
  • Willingness to follow safety procedures.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
