Boone County Marketing Lunch & Learn Recap
On August 20, Boone County Development Agency (BCDA) hosted the first of three Lunch & Learn sessions designed to support local businesses. Fourteen Boone County businesses participated in the event, which was titled: Unlock Your Perfect Rural Marketing Strategy.
Focused on helping businesses in a growth phase, or who are interested in elevating their marketing efforts, the Lunch & Learn covered topics including branding, digital advertising, social media, traditional print and radio advertising, and search engine optimization (SEO). Participants were given a resource packet covering each of the topics that included checklists and/or exercises to help them establish clear goals and effective tactics to support their business. A free, private one-hour follow up meeting was also offered for those interested in seeking more personalized recommendations for their marketing efforts.
The marketing-focused Lunch & Learn was provided by Tina Stokes and Dani O’Brien. Stokes is a freelance brand strategist and copywriter with more than two decades of experience in branding and marketing. O’Brien is a freelance website and branding professional with specialized expertise in social media and SEO. Both serve on the BCDA board of directors and provide operations support to the BCDA office.
Last year, BCDA launched a Marketing Program designed to give business owners the knowledge and skills needed to enhance their marketing efforts. With three package levels available, businesses can choose the level of support and investment they feel comfortable with. The second BCDA Lunch & Learn session is slated for November and will focus on Business Valuation and Transition. This will be made available for Boone County businesses interested in learning more about how to plan for the future, including preparing to sell or hand off to the next generation of ownership. The specific date and registration information will be available later this fall.
