Roads Administrator

Full job description

The Road Administrator is responsible for providing administrative support to the Road Department. This position is responsible for handling data entry, document management, project tracking, communication with vendors, permit applications, and maintaining records related to road construction.

Essential Job Functions

  • Organize and maintain office documentation, files, and records.
  • Compile annual reports.
  • Input road project details such as maintenance records, permit information, and other relevant data into the system.
  • Coordinate with the foremen, vendors, and Highway Superintendent as needed.
  • Schedule and manage meetings with vendors and contractors.
  • Organize and distribute payroll and leave sheets.
  • Assist with tracking project expenses and budget allocations.
  • Complete accounts payable processes.
  • Serve as the liaison between the County Board and vendors regarding quotes and bids.
  • Assist with permit applications for road closures, excavations, and utility installation.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in submitting vendor claims and accounts payable processes, preferred.
  • Experience in the operations of computers to run Road Department computer programs.
  • Knowledge of local permitting processes and regulations preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk and list on a two-way radio. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move in excess of fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to indoor office conditions, an indoor garage facility, and outdoors in all types of weather conditions and temperature variations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and can sometimes be loud.. The employee must maintain office in an orderly, clean, and safe condition.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 29 per week
